Accordingly, Ca Mau is the leading province in shrimp exporting. According to the Department of Industry and Trade of this province, the seafood export turnover (mainly shrimp) in the province in the first quarter of 2021 reached 163 million USD, equal to 15% of the plan, up by 6% over the same period.
In Bac Lieu province, the total export turnover in the first quarter was estimated at 163 million USD, equaling 18% of the plan, up by 8% over the same period (of which, frozen shrimp reached 160 million USD, up by over 8% over the same period.
Similarly, export value of some key shrimp exporting provinces in the Mekong Delta such as Soc Trang, Kien Giang ... also grew positively.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of the Mekong Delta provinces, export turnover in the first quarter increased over the same period thanks to the advantages of the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed with many countries around the world. Therefore, shrimp export turnover to these markets increased strongly. In particular, Ca Mau's shrimp exports to the European market increased by 154%, to Canada increased by nearly 15%, to Australia increased by nearly 41%, to Switzerland increased 568%.
In addition to the prosperous export situation, the price of raw shrimp is quite high, so farmers are also excited. According to the statistics of Ca Mau province, in March 2021, commercial black tiger shrimp of 20 pieces/kg priced at 210,000 - 220,000 VND/kg, white-legg shrimp of 100 pc/kg in canvas-lined ponds is 103,000 - 113,000 VND/kg, in soil ponds is 101,000 - 111,000 VND/kg.

The United Kingdom officially became a member of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on December 15, 2024. This is expected to bring significant benefits for seafood enterprises, particularly in terms of tariffs and intra-bloc origin regulations - especially for tuna products.
