 Optimism returns to Vietnamese pangasius exports

In the first 5 months of this year, in addition to the positive growth in pangasius exports to some leading markets, the export value to potential markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, and Thailand has grown very strongly.

Up to now, all Vietnamese pangasius exporters are controlling the COVID-19 epidemic very well thanks to paying special attention to the health of workers and workers working at processing factories and carrying out strictly the motto "5K" of the Ministry of Health.

By the end of May 2021, China - Hong Kong is still the leading export market of Vietnamese pangasius enterprises with a total export value of nearly 165.5 million USD, up 2.1%, accounting for nearly 26% of total export value. Pangasius export. During this time, exports to the Chinese market remained relatively stable, but the value of exports to Hong Kong was leveling off.

In the first 5 months of 2021, the total value of pangasius exports to the US reached 134.2 million USD, up 55.3% over the same period last year. In particular, in May 2021, the export value reached 32.2 million USD, up 173.4 %.

In the last two months, the export value of pangasius to the US market has continuously grown strongly. Previously, in April 2021, the export value of pangasius to this market also increased by 136%, reaching 30.3 million USD.

Right from the end of 2020, when the COVID-19 epidemic situation in the US was better controlled, the country's pangasius inventory was reduced, the demand for importing frozen pangasius products recovered. Therefore, in the first half of this year, pangasius export value to the US increased positively again.

By the end of May 2021, the export value of pangasius to five potential markets, namely Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, and Russia, has grown positively by three digits. In May 2021 alone, pangasius export value to Mexico reached US$6.42 million - an increase of 167% over the same period last year, to Brazil reached US$4.93 million - an increase of 1,205%, to Thailand reached 4. $38 million – up 117.5 percent, Colombia $1.9 million — up 230% and Russia $4 million — up 458.5 percent. These are extremely impressive positive growth results.

By the end of May 2021, pangasius export value to Mexico also reached 30.3 million USD - up 61.7%; Brazil reached 27.2 million USD – up 65.5%; Thailand reached 25.6 million USD – an increase of 18.7%; Colombia reached $17.9 million – an increase of 65.7% and Russia reached $16.9 million – an increase of 124.5 percent over the same period in 2020.
