Ben Tre’s fishery production is estimated at over 17,000 tons in July 2022

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The catch in July 2022 of Ben Tre province was estimated at 17,500 tons, the accumulated in 2022 reached 111,500 tons, down 18% over the same period, reaching 47.1% of the year plan.

In general, the weather situation is favorable for the operation of the province's fleet. However, due to the continued increase in oil prices, which greatly affected the fishing capacity, the fishing activities were mainly moderate, the efficiency and the production of fishing fleets are lower compared to the same period last year.

According to the Fisheries Sub-Department of Ben Tre, the number of fishing vessels docked at the port in the month was 115 times, accumulated in 2022 is 751 times; Ships leaving the port for fishing in the month are 133 times, accumulated in 2022 is 997 times. The total number of registered fishing vessels up to now is 3,784 units; license issuance and renewal stands at 102 ships; the total number of vessels licensed under the quota is 2,290 ships; The Sub-Department of Fisheries continues to coordinate with localities to implement the work transformation project plan.

Up to now, the number of fishing vessels with a length of 15 - 24 meters that are required to install the cruise monitoring device (VMS) is 2,008 out of 2,064 vessels, reaching the rate of 97.04%, the remainings are 56 suspended vessels.

Through the review, in July 2022, the authorities inspected and granted technical safety certificates to 134 fishing vessels; the year accumulated is 1,184 fishing vessels; the update of fishing vessel registration deadlines are maintained on VNFishbase system.

At the same time, the province is organizing a 24-hour on-call fishing vessel monitoring system; accumulated up to now, 47 out of 59 vessel crossings have been monitored. For vesselsthat lost signal, the satellite contacted 689 vessel owners out of 1,929 times.

Export value in the first six months of 2026 reached USD 148 million, down 2% year on year. Shrimp exports in the first half of the year grow despite mounting market and logistics pressures

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In June 2026, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached nearly USD 458 million, up 24% year-on-year. In the first six months of 2026, export value totaled USD 2.35 billion, an increase of 14.2% compared with the same period last year. Growth was driven mainly by the Chinese market and the strong performance of lobster exports, while shrimp exports continued to face pressure from U.S. tariffs and rising logistics costs.
