Petition to remove microbiological and heavy metal test on imported additives

(vasep.com.vn) On December 11th 2012, VASEP sent Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development the official letter No. 141/2012/CV-VASEP on petitioning to remove microbiological and heavy metal test on imported additives for processing products under processing contract or sales contract.

According to VASEP, some enterprises import additives, spices to use in processing products before exporting the processed products out of Vietnam under processing contract or sales contract.

These additives, spices must be tested microbiological and heavy metal before custom clearance as regulated in the official letter No. 1618/QLCL-CL2 of September 28th 2012 on testing and certifying imported and exported food or goods.

The competent authorities should check documents of the above imported items and shouldn’t take samples for checking because it is unnecessary and costs enterprises a lot of money and time.

With imported food batches for re-exporting under the management of MARD and Ministry of Health (MOH), VASEP petitioned the competent authorities to check their documents with responsible contracts signed with partners. The names, types and the number of products are requested to list in the contracts.
