Vietnam’s export turnover of aquatic products reached US$7 billion in 2016, an increase of 6.6% over 2015, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Imports of bivalve mollusks into Portugal in the first 9 months of 2016 tended to go up over the same period last year. Spain is the leading supplier of bivalve mollusks to the market, followed by Viet Nam and New Zealand.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After declines, imports of cephalopod into the US tended to rise from the beginning of the year. The import volume peaked at 24,858 MT in QIII/2016, QII/2016 with 22,475 MT and QI/2016 with 22,080 MT. This was driven by an increase in demand for this item for the upcoming holidays.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, as of 30th Oct 2016, Vietnam’s bivalve mollusk exports to Spain were worth by US$13.2 million, up 26.5% compared to the same period of 2015. Shipments to Spain accounted for 20% of total export value of Vietnam’s bivalve mollusks and the market also stayed as the 1st largest importer of the item from Vietnam in the EU.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports valued at US$341.9 million, down 3.5% compared to the same period in 2015. The figure in Oct 2016 was US$43.6 million, up 5.6% compared to the same period in 2015. Exports were on the upward trend in the recent months.

Exports of bivalve molluscs to Spain in ten months leading up to November hit US$13.2 million, a year-on-year increase of 26.5%, according to the statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Hung Hau Agricultural Corporation (HOSE: SJ1) announced its quarterly financial report in QIII/2016. Accordingly, net revenue in the period reached VND260.8 billion, a two-fold increase year on year. Despite higher cost of goods sold, its gross profit surged up to VND25.68 billion compared with VND13.8 billion in the same period of 2015.

In general, the production and business performance in QIII/2016 such as production output, consumption and profit was higher than the same period of 2015.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first 8 months of this year, Vietnam cephalopod exports valued at US$259.68 million, down 6% compared to the same period in 2015.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 8 months of this year, Vietnam crab exports totaled US$75.8 million, up 7.2% compared to the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Drought and salinity in the first half of 2016 affected supply of raw materials for processing and exporting. However, with efforts of enterprise community and recovery in importing demand from some markets, Vietnam’s seafood export turnover in QII/2016 remained the growth of 2.1% after the advance of 6.4% in QI.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 7 months of this year, Vietnam cephalopod exports to South Korea valued at US$81.2 million, down 7.7% from the same period last year. After drops in exports to this market in Feb-May 2016, there have been signs of recovery since June. However, South Korea still remained the leading importer of Vietnam cephalopod, accounting for 37.2%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Currently, Japan tended to increase imports of frozen cephalopod, however, the shipments into this market remained low compared to the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports in the first 7 months of this year totaled US$2.55 million, up 29.1% compared to the same period in 2015. Of these, despite a small proportion of 1.2%, cephalopod exports from Vietnam to Australia recorded a good growth compared to main importers of Vietnam. In July 2016, exports to this market reached US$447 thousand, up 31.2% over the same period in 2015.
