(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 8 months of this year, Vietnam crab exports totaled US$75.8 million, up 7.2% compared to the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Drought and salinity in the first half of 2016 affected supply of raw materials for processing and exporting. However, with efforts of enterprise community and recovery in importing demand from some markets, Vietnam’s seafood export turnover in QII/2016 remained the growth of 2.1% after the advance of 6.4% in QI.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 7 months of this year, Vietnam cephalopod exports to South Korea valued at US$81.2 million, down 7.7% from the same period last year. After drops in exports to this market in Feb-May 2016, there have been signs of recovery since June. However, South Korea still remained the leading importer of Vietnam cephalopod, accounting for 37.2%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Currently, Japan tended to increase imports of frozen cephalopod, however, the shipments into this market remained low compared to the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports in the first 7 months of this year totaled US$2.55 million, up 29.1% compared to the same period in 2015. Of these, despite a small proportion of 1.2%, cephalopod exports from Vietnam to Australia recorded a good growth compared to main importers of Vietnam. In July 2016, exports to this market reached US$447 thousand, up 31.2% over the same period in 2015.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam cephalopod exports in June, 2016 reached US$36.870 million, down 5.8% compared to the same month of last year. Cephalopod exports in the first 6 months of 2016 valued at US$179.352 million, down 9.7% year on year. Importing markets and main products are as follows:

Exports to top 4 leading cephalopod importers of Vietnam showed the decline. South Korea and Japan remained to rank the 1st and the 2nd out of top largest importers, while the EU outstripped Asean to rank the 3rd this year and Asean ranked the 4th.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam crab exports in July gained more than US$10.3 million, down 19.6% from the same period last year. The figure in Jan-Jul 2016 estimated at US$59.7 million, down 1.7% year on year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, in the first 6 months of this year, Vietnam cephalopod exports to Italy valued at US$15.7 million, equivalent to the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) After continuous slump in 2015, Vietnam's seafood exports in the first quarter of 2016 has recovered, reaching US$1.45 billion, up nearly 6.4% compared to the same period last year. In particular, the export of shrimp and pangasius rose 8% and 2.4%, respectively. Exports of squid, octopus and tuna fell 6.2% and 5.5%, while sales of marine fish and other products grew 19.5%.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 6 months of 2016, Vietnam bivalve mollusk exports totaled US$40.86 million, up 1.6% compared to the same period in 2015. Top 3 main importers accounting for 85% of Vietnam bivalve mollusk exports included the EU, the U.S and Japan.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In QII/2016, Vietnam crab exports posted a slight drop. However, total exports in the first half of 2016 valued nearly US$49.8 million, up 3.1% over the same period last year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 5 months of this year, Vietnam cephalopod exports to Japan hit US$36.32 million, down 4.1% compared to the same period of 2015. Japan is the 2nd largest importer, making up 25.5% of total Vietnam cephalopod exports.
