(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the plan, in 2021, Soc Trang province strives to stock brackish water shrimp in 51,000 hectares, with total production expected to reach 172,000 tons.

According to the plan of the province, in 2021, the aquaculture area of ​​SocTrang province is 75,000 ha, of which brackish shrimp farming is over 51,000 ha (black tiger shrimp being over 16,000 ha and whiteleg shrimp being over 35,000 ha). Aquaculture output reached 250,600 tons, of which, brackish water shrimp reached over 172,000 tons (tiger shrimp being 24,000 tons and whiteleg shrimp being over 148,000 tons).

In 2020, the brackish shrimp crop of Soc Trang province was farmed on 51,400 ha, of which, white shrimp was over 37,000 ha (accounting for over 72% of the farming area) and tiger shrimp was over 14,000 ha. The output of farmed shrimp in 2020 reached nearly 188,000 tons, exceeding 12.5% ​​of the plan and nearly 25% higher than the same period in 2019.

Notably, the area of ​​shrimp cultured in the direction of intensive and semi-intensive farming increased, the average yield in 2020 was higher than the same period of the previous years, the production of farmed shrimp in 2020 had exceeded the plan.
