This is an activity to continue promoting the export of pangasius fillet to the Pakistani market and expand to Central Asian countries.
Previously, in a meeting with the Pakistan Seafood Importers Association on January 20, Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong said that basa fish is Vietnam's main export seafood product to the Pakistani market, accounting for up to 95% market share of Pakisan's basa imports. In 2021, Vietnamese basa fish products exported to Pakistan will reach over 21 million USD in the total export turnover of nearly 800 million USD in 2021 between the two countries.
Basa fish is also a favorite item of Muslim consumers, there is still a lot of potential for export to the Pakistani market of over 230 million people. At the same time, through cooperation with Pakistani enterprises, it is possible to expand the export of aquatic products in general and basa in particular to Afghanistan, Turmenistan, Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries - a very potential market for Hala food exports that Vietnamese enterprises can completely occupy.
It is necessary to develop more detailed and consistent regulations on seafood production for export in line with the implementation of solutions towards sustainable and responsible fishing practices.
