Owing to high profit from whiteleg shrimp farming and the support of local aquaculture sector and leaders of localities, farmers focused on whiteleg shrimp rearing on the area used for agriculture and salt production before.
Nguyen Van Hoc, Director of Nghe An Sub-Department of Aquaculture said, whiteleg shrimp farming area accounts for 91 percent of the shrimp farming area of the province. Farmers switched to rear 100 percent of whiteleg shrimp in many areas such as Nghi Thai, Nghi Quang (Nghi Loc district), Dien Trung, Dien Kim (Nghi Loc district), Mai Hung, Quynh Bang, Quynh Xuan (Quynh Luu district).
However, whiteleg farmers always face with risks like epidemic and other troubles. The solutions are good management of frying, good farm planning, monitoring farming ponds to detect and treat timely diseases on shrimp.

October alone posted $73 million, a strong 19% increase year-on-year. The Chinese market currently accounts for nearly 27% of Vietnam’s total pangasius export value.
