In the first 7 months of the year, the total output of all types of aquatic products captured and farmed in Da Nang was estimated at 23,716.8 tons, up 1.9% over the same period in 2023. Of which, fish reached 19,855.3 tons, up 1.1%; shrimp, 808.3 tons, up 2.7%; and other aquatic products, 3,053.1 tons, up 7.1%.
The estimated output of marine products in the month was 3,026.9 tons, down 1.1% compared to the previous month and down 4.6% compared to the same period in 2023. In the first 7 months of 2024, the output of caught products reached 22,738.9 tons, up 1.3% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the output of marine caught products is estimated at 22,661.4 tons, up 1.3%; the output of inland caught products is estimated at 77.5 tons, up 3.4%.
The investment project to upgrade and expand Tho Quang fishing port (phase 2), Tho Quang fishing port, and fishing dock are to become a major fishing center in the Central region associated with tourism development. Therefore, upgrading and expanding Tho Quang fishing port is necessary and urgent. Phase 2 of the project is being implemented, including 2 construction packages. The value of implementation in June 2024 reached 24 billion VND, and the estimated in July 2024 reached 11.5 billion VND.
Currently, Da Nang City has 1,188 fishing vessels with the largest length of 6 meter or more, with a total capacity of 408,899 CV. All fishing vessels eligible for fishing activities have been painted with fishing vessel markings and registered numbers, according to the provisions of Circular No. 23/2018/TT-BNNPTNT.
Da Nang City has also fully updated the data of 1,188 registered fishing vessels in the city into the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase). Through checking and comparing the data of Da Nang City's fishing vessel management, it matches the data of fishing vessels in the VNFishbase system.
