Vietnam producer hopes certification will open doors

Godaco Seafood is the second producer in Vietnam to receive four star BAP certification.

Vietnamese seafood producer Godaco Seafood is the second producer in Vietnam to receive 4 Star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) status for its pangasius farming.

As a fully integrated producer, from hatchery and feed production to ongrowing and value-added processing, Godaco hopes to use the certification as a differentiator in export markets.

"We are only the second in Vietnam to have this [4 start BAP certification] and we believe it shows our commitment to traceability and food safety and improving the quality of pangasius produced from Vietnam," said Godaco's Jonathan Wilson.

"We are a quality player and aim to keep developing and growing in both our food safety and sustainability credentials."

The company, whose farm operations are also certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), is working with distributors to bring its branded value-added products, which include coated and fried, marinated and formed seafood into Asia, the United States and Europe.
