Portugal, Spain and Italia were the three main importers of Vietnamese bivalve mollusk representing for 80% export value to the EU. In the third quarter, exports to these three markets increased sharply by 68%, 13% and 45%. Therefore, exports to the EU grew by 35% in the third quarter and 8.6% in the first 9 months.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnamese cephalopod exports to the US in the first 9 months of 2019 reached US$11.4 million, up 63.7% over the same period in 2018. As of September 2019, Vietnamese exports of this item to the US grew continously.

In the first 7 months of 2019, Vietnamese crabs exports to the US were not stable, the export value of this product to the US rose sharply in January and March while declining in the other months.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The Netherlands is the third largest importer for Vietnamese cephalopod, accounting for 9% of Vietnamese cephalopod exports to the EU and 1.1% of Vietnamese cephalopod total exports to all markets. In the first 7 months of 2019, Vietnamese cephalopod exports to the Netherlands reached US $ 3.7 million, up 26.8% over the same period in 2018. Particularly in July 2019, the export of this item to the Netherlands reached US $ 0.9 million, up 12.2% compared to July 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first quarter of 2019, Vietnam's bivalve mollusk exports increased slightly by 0.6% mainly due to sharp increase in exports in January, but from February to the end of June, exports declined continously. Export of bivalve mollusk has reversed to go up in July 2019. In the first 7 months of 2019, exports of this commodity reached nearly US$52 million, up slightly 0.24% over the same period in 2018.

In the first 9 months of 2019, Vietnamses export of this item reached nearly US$69 million, up 4.3% year on year.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnamese cephalopod exports in the first 9 months of 2019 reached US$428.2 million, down 9.6% over the same period in 2018. Particularly in September 2019, cephalopod exports reached US$42.6 million, down 25.4% over the same period in 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Spain ranked 11th in the world of squid and octopus imports, accounting for 2.2% of the total import value of cephalopod all around the globe. Cephalopod imports into Spain is decreasing due to low supply and high price of this item.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Cephalopod exports in the first 6 months of this year reached US$288.6 million, down 3.3% compared to the same period in 2018. Exports to major markets such as South Korea, Japan, and the US increased slightly, but exports to other main markets such as EU, ASEAN, and China fell sharply.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's bivalve mollusk exports in Jan-May 2019 reached US $ 36.2 million, down 3% compared to the same period in 2018.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam cephalopod exports to Japan in Jan-May 2019 reached US$61.3 million, up 11.3% over the same period in 2018. Particularly in May 2019, exports to Japan reached US$15.2 million, up 16.5%. Japan still maintains Vietnam's second largest cephalopod importer, accounting for 25.5% of Vietnam's total cephalopod export value to markets.

Exports to major markets such as Korea, Japan, and the US maintained double-digit growth, however, exports to other main markets such as EU, ASEAN, and China fell sharply.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) From 2008 - 2018, Vietnam seafood exports to Russia increased from 28 million USD in 2008 to 47.4 million USD in 2018. The export value of Vietnamese seafood to Russia in this period was not stable.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to ITC statistics, in the first quarter of 2019, Japanese cephalopod imports reached nearly 11.7 thousand tons worth US$77.6 million, up 11% in volume and 10% in value compared to the same period in 2018.
