Vietnam's marine product exports reached more than 1.6 billion USD in the first 6 months of the year

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's marine product exports continued to grow well in June 2021. In the first 6 months of 2021, marine products export value reached more than 1.6 billion USD, up by 15% over the same period in 2020.

Vietnams marine product exports reached more than 16 billion USD in the first 6 months of the year

Of the total export value of marine products in the first 6 months of 2021, tuna accounted for 22%, other fish accounted for 53%, crabs and other crustaceans accounted for 4%, squid and octopus accounted for 17% and mollusk bivalves accounted for 4%.

Over the same period, exports of all product groups increased, except for crabs and other crustaceans which decreased slightly. Notably, exports of bivalve molluscs increased the most, reaching nearly $61 million, up by 43% over the same period of last year. Export value of squid and octopus reached over 267 million USD, increasing by 11%. Exports of other fish (except tuna and pangasius) reached nearly US$851 million, up by 13%.

Market demand is forecasted to continue to increase in the coming months. However, the production and processing of marine products could not maintain high growth as in the first half of the year due to the impact of Covid.
