(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In April 2022, the total export of Vietnam's marine products reached nearly USD 377 million, up 24% over the same period in 2021. In the first 4 months of 2022, exports of these products reached over USD 1.3 billion, up 26% over the same period last year. Currently, marine product exports account for 35% of the country's total seafood export value.

Vietnam's marine product exports include the following product groups: other fish (except tuna), accounting for 46.2% of Vietnam's total marine product export value); tuna (accounting for 28.4%); cephalopod (16.4%); crabs and other crustaceans (5.3%); mollusk shells (3.6%) and other mollusks.
In the first 4 months of 2022, the export value of marine product products increased except for other mollusk exports. Tuna exports recorded the strongest growth rate of 63%, reaching nearly USD 368 million.
Exports of crabs, other crustaceans and cephalopod increased by 59% and 30% respectively. Exports of mollusk shells increased by 28%, and exports of other marine fish (except tuna) increased slightly by 7%. Only other mollusk exports decreased by 49% but this product only accounted for a very small proportion.

Vietnam's marine product exports in the second quarter of this year are expected to maintain positive growth, but the growth rate will slow down due to a shortage of raw materials, the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, IUU yellow card, price transportation costs, gasoline prices, production input costs increase... The marine product export turnover this year is forecast to reach about USD 3.2-3.3 billion.
