By the end of August 2023, tuna export turnover to Chile reached more than 10 million USD, an increase of 65% compared to the same period in 2022. This this is the highest number in 3 years.
In the first 8 months of this year, Chile tended to sharply increase imports of processed and canned tuna from Vietnam, up 131% over the same period in 2022. Along with that, exports of frozen tuna meat/loin also increased sharply by 39%. Currently, Chile imports mainly frozen tuna meat/loin from Vietnam, accounting for nearly 60% of total export turnover to this market.

Vietnam, with its import tax advantage as committed in the CPTPP agreement, will be a strength for businesses to expand their business in this market. Therefore, Vietnam's tuna exports to Chile will continue to grow well in the last months of the year.

According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, this South American country imported nearly 3 million USD of tuna products from Vietnam in the first 2 months of 2024, an increase of 58% over the same period in 2023.
Economic and social development activities, overexploitation, pollution, diseases, and climate change have adversely affected the ecological environment, leading to a severe decline or the extinction of many precious indigenous aquatic species.
