Russia currently increased imports of fresh/frozen/dried/salted octopus from Vietnam. The export value of this product to Russia accounted for more than 90% of total export value. This year Vietnam promotes shipments of this product group to Russia. In addition, Vietnam also boosts fresh/frozen squid products to this market.

According to the statistics of Trademap, Russia's cephalopod imports in the last 3 years from 2015 to 2017 were unstable. However, in 2017, Russia tended to increase imports of this item.
According to a recent report by the Federal Customs Service of Russia, in 2017, imports of frozen/dried/salted squid (HS code 030749) accounted for 58% of the country's total mollusk imports; followed by processed squid (HS code 160554) with 41% of the total import value.
Compared to 2017, imports of frozen/dried/salted squid (HS code 030749) into Russia dropped by 23%, while those of processed squid (HS code 160554) decreased by 33%.
In 2016, Vietnam held as the third largest supplier of cephalopod to the market. By 2017, Vietnam had to compete strongly with big rivals such as China, Peru, Belarus and Thailand.
In 2018, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports to this market expected to recover.
