Vietfish 2017 opening ceremony

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Being considered as the most important activity of fisheries industry in the year, Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition 2017 (Vietfish 2017) was opened on 29th Aug 2017 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC). The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) - Mr. Vu Van Tam- and representatives from Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as representatives from trade affairs and business associations from countries such as Thailand, India, and Malaysia ... and the media.

Vietfish is an annual fisheries exhibition organized by the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) under the host of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Over the past 19 years, Vietfish has become a reliable destination for seafood companies in the region and the world to seek opportunities for cooperation and development. Vietfish 2017 was held more professionally with larger scale to achieve the goal of becoming the largest seafood fair in Asia and deserves to be a global brand in the coming years.

Vietfish 2017 has attracted nearly 200 enterprises, including foreign enterprises from 15 countries such as China, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, Japan and Malaysia. There were 362 booths divided into four areas: a display area for seafood, a display area for equipments and machineries, a display area for aquaculture products and a display area for other supporting products.

Visiting Vietfish 2017, visitors had the opportunity to see a series of new products with high quality from the business. A series of high quality, delicious, convenient and eye catching new products are processed from pangasius, shrimp, tuna, squid and octopus; besides, new technologies for sustainable seafood industry will be introduced to visitors. Visitors also had the opportunity to try seafood dishes and witness the chefs at their technical show booths. Within the framework of the fair, a series of seminars on the fisheries sector in Vietnam and the world will be held on a variety of topics related to world shrimp demand, IUU issues, voluntary certification, labeling and so on.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Vu Van Tam highly appreciated the creativity and dynamism of enterprises who constantly strive to overcome trade barriers. In addition, VASEP is the firm support of enterprises, contributing to strengthening the business community.

Vietfish 2017 is not only considered as an opportunity for domestic and foreign enterprises to seek partners to expand their markets but also to help businesses update information, new trends and new technologies from markets. The fair took place from 29th to 31st Aug 2017.

Pangasius exports to UAE increased by 67% in Q1/2024

Cumulative pangasius exports to this market reached $12 million as of March 15, 2024, down 3% from the same period last year.

Agro-forestry-fisheries products nearly double in Q1

Total export revenue from agro-forestry-fisheries products in the first three months of this year is estimated at 13.53 billion USD, up 21.8% over the same period last year; and this results in a trade surplus of 3.36 billion USD, a rise of 96.5%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Cephalopod exports are expected to decrease slightly in the first quarter of the year

In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam's cephalopod exports are expected to reach about 136 million USD, down 2% over the same period last year.

China and Hong Kong imported 75 million USD of Vietnamese pangasius in the first two months of the year

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In February 2024, Vietnam pangasius exports to China and Hong Kong decreased by 65% compared to February 2023, reaching 23 million USD.
