Seven seafood companies granted the 2013 National Quality Award

(vasep.com.vn) On March 16, 2014, a solemn ceremomy was organized to honour 82 Vietnamese companies receiving the 2013 National Quality Award and the 2013 Asia-Pacific International Quality Award. This year, 7 companies from the fishery sector were granted this award.

On this occasion, 20 companies were honourably granted the goleden-titled award by Deputy Prime Ministrer Vu Duc Dam and Vice President of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Doan.

Addressing at the ceremory, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam highlighted that Vietnamese business community need to put more focus on modern equipments and technologies in order to boost production and raise competitiveness in the domestic market. Companies were called for a fair competition and efficient cooperation to develop Vietnamese brand names in the global market. 

The National Quality Award is annually organized by Directorate of Standrads, Metrology and and Quality – under the Ministry of Science and Technology – to appreciate Vietnamese companies with remarkable achievements in production and trading activities. This is also an occasion for those companies to promote their products and services, improve competitiveness in domestic and global markets.

These award winners are selected on the base of 7 criteria: leadership; strategic development plan; consumer focus and market; communication and performance analysis; human resource development and management; business management; and business results.

Sagimexco

With the slogan “products with natural flavours”, Sagimexco keeps its focus on providing good and design products with competitive price. The food safety is also one of the company’s priorities to meet consumers’ demand.

Currently, Sagimexco is applying some advanced management systems including HACCP, ISO 9001:2008, BRC 6.0. to ensure products’ quality. All its products are welcomed by consumers in domestic and foreign markets. This performance is because the company has a customer-focusing policy, which prioritizes researches to produce better quality products to satisfy consumers’ demand. Over the recent three years from 2011 to 2013, Sagimexco reported more than VND$58 billion of turnover.

Thanks to the brilliant leadership of the company as well as efforts of all its staffs and workers, Sagimexco overcame many challenges and received the 2013 silver-titled National Quality Award. With this award, the company continues to improve product quality to serve consumers in domestic and foreign markets.

In 2013, Sagimexco sold domestic and foreign markets 5,500 MT of shrimp chips, seafood and rice-derived products. In which, exports were 3,000 MT, worth US$8 million. In the first two months of 2014, domestic sales and exports of shrimp chips and other products totaled 1,000 MT; 700 MT of which were exported for a revenue of US$1.4 million.

Thien Phu Seafood Company

Seafood products produced by Thien Phu Seafood ensure food safety and hygiene thanks to its experienced leaders, skillful workers, advanced production equipments satisfied with international requirements

Being located in the Mekong Delta’s shrimp farming hub, the company has plentiful supply of raw material to produce high quality products.

The key products of Thien Phu Seafood include black tiger shrimp, whiteleg shrimp, pink shrimp, etc, which are exported to main markets such as EU, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Hongkong, South Korea, Singapore and other markets

Vina Cleanfood

Vina Cleanfood mostly produces products of black tiger shrimp and whiteleg shrimp. The company’s products ensure good quality and free of chemicals and banned antibiotics.

Safe finished products processed from supply of fresh raw shrimp under advanced technologies help to boost competitiveness of the company.

The company supplies a wide rage of raw black tiger shrimp products including HOSO,  PTO, PD as well as a great deal of value added products including cooked black tiger shrimp, nobashi, black tiger skewer PD and breaded shrimp, which are largely exported to key markets such as Japan, the U.S., EU.

Besides, Vina Cleanfood has complied with certification standards such as BRC, HACCP, ISO 22000:2005 and kept upgrading the production chain to meet regulations on quality control set by consuming markets.

During 30 years of establishment and development, the company has its footprints in the seafood industry with well-known brand name, outstanding quality products, which are widely appricated by customers from top market such as Japan, Europe, USA.

ASEAN: A promising market for Vietnamese pangasius exports

(vasep.com.vn) In the first quarter of 2026, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the ASEAN bloc reached USD 44 million, up 7% compared to the same period in 2025. After falling to the lowest level of the quarter at USD 9 million in February — reflecting the seasonal slowdown in orders after the festive period — exports recovered strongly to USD 18 million in March, the highest monthly value of the quarter. In this context, the U.S. market has had to become more flexible in sourcing alternative whitefish. However, relying heavily on Alaska pollock is not a long-term solution, as it is a strictly managed fishery with quotas and sustainability regulations, limiting any rapid increase in output to offset cod shortages.
