Seminar at Vietfish 2026: Green technology solutions for sustainable aquaculture and seafood processing

News 11:44 06/08/2026
(vasep.com.vn) As part of the Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition – Vietfish 2026, the technical seminar “Green and Sustainable Technology Solutions for the Aquaculture and Seafood Processing Value Chain” will take place from 09:30 to 11:45 on August 20, 2026, at Convention Room B, Level 2, SECC, Ho Chi Minh City. The seminar is jointly organized by VASEP, the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance, and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vietnam, focusing on technological innovation and sustainable transformation across Vietnam’s seafood value chain.

As export markets increasingly demand higher standards in quality, traceability, carbon reduction, animal welfare, and sustainability, the adoption of advanced technologies in aquaculture and seafood processing has become not only an option but a key requirement for improving competitiveness. The technical seminar at Vietfish 2026 aims to provide seafood enterprises with practical insights into green technologies, modern management models, and innovative solutions that can be applied throughout the seafood value chain.

The seminar will open with welcome remarks and presentations on promoting high technology and innovation in Vietnam’s aquaculture sector to drive export growth. Representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vietnam and the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will share perspectives on bilateral cooperation in technology transfer, workforce development, and sustainable modernization of the fisheries sector.

The seminar will then explore a range of specialized technical topics. A representative from Benchmark Genetics Norway AS will introduce advances in selective breeding and applied genotyping technologies designed to support the future development of aquaculture in Asia. These innovations play an important role in improving seed quality, increasing productivity, and enhancing the resilience of farmed species against disease outbreaks, environmental challenges, and climate change.

On fish health management, PHARMAQ Vietnam will present diagnostic service solutions that enable proactive, science-based health management for aquaculture. This data-driven approach helps producers shift from reactive disease treatment to preventive management, reducing disease risks, optimizing production costs, and improving farm performance.

Another key presentation will focus on building a transparent and sustainable seafood value chain for the future, delivered by Nutreco Vietnam. As international markets place greater emphasis on traceability, supply chain responsibility, and ESG standards, developing transparent value chains will help Vietnamese seafood companies strengthen buyer confidence and consumer trust.

For the processing sector, the seminar will showcase advanced automation technologies for whiteleg shrimp and pangasius processing, including humane stunning systems, automated shrimp head-removal equipment, and robotic pangasius gill-cutting technology. These innovations can significantly improve productivity, enhance product quality, reduce dependence on manual labor, and better comply with evolving animal welfare requirements.

The seminar will also feature a presentation by Fjell Technology Group on technologies that convert seafood by-products into premium fishmeal and fish oil meeting MarineTrust sustainability standards for export markets. Maximizing the utilization of processing by-products not only reduces waste but also creates additional value within a circular economy framework.

In addition, ScaleAQ Vietnam will introduce technological solutions supporting the transition toward sustainable aquaculture, while representatives from the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) will present Vietnam–Norway cooperation programs for developing a highly skilled workforce for the seafood industry.

With participation from government agencies, diplomatic representatives, international organizations, and leading technology companies, the technical seminar at Vietfish 2026 is expected to provide Vietnamese seafood businesses with practical knowledge and access to innovative solutions in farming, processing, and value chain management. The event also offers an opportunity for industry stakeholders to better understand the critical role of technological innovation in building a greener, more efficient, and globally competitive seafood sector.
