The license allows PHARMAQ to begin vaccinations for pangasius under the support and close observation by authorities of National Center for Veterinary Medicine Test II under MARD. The vaccine will be used for pangasius on the large scale in some ponds in the Mekong River Delta.

“This is the first commercial fish vaccine in Vietnam, creating a breakthrough to Vietnam seafood industry” said Kjersti Gravningen, PHARMAQ Vietnam General director.

ALPHA JECT® Panga 1 is injected into pangasius’s abdominal cavity to provide protection against the bacteria Edwardsiella ictaluri, which causes liver pus disease in farmed pangasius.

The company is also entering a new phase in trying to establish and transfer modern techniques in vaccination for farmed fish in Vietnam through training and close collaboration with farmers during vaccination.

“By the introduction of ALPHA JECT Panga 1 we have reached a great milestone in the history of PHARMAQ and taken another step to strengthen our presence in the global fish health market,” PHARMAQ CEO Morten Nordstad said. “Our activities in Vietnam are an essential part of our strategy in exploring the potential of the Asian aquaculture industry.”
