Ninh Thuan province growing grape seaweed

(vasep.com.vn) In time of unfavorable weather for fish catching, especially anchovy, only 60 percent of the province’s fishing vessels went offshore fishing.

In the first 7 months of 2013, fish landings of Ninh Thuan province were 30,625 MT, equating to 67 percent of the yearly plan and representing a reduction of 25.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

In Jan-Jul 2013, shrimp farming area of the province was 701 hectares (including 35 hectares of black tiger shrimp and 666 hectares of whiteleg shrimp), equating to 53.9 percent of the yearly plan and counting for the increase of 28.9 percent compared to the same time of 2012. At the same period, shrimp production of the province reached 3,040 MT (including 40 MT of black tiger shrimp and 3,000 MT of whiteleg shrimp). Until late Jul 2013, the province produced 12.7 billion of shrimp seed (3.2 billion of black tiger shrimp and 9.5 billion ofwhiteleg shrimp).

Due to disease outbreaks, many shrimp farmers in Ninh Hai district shifted to grow a new kind of seafood called grape seaweed.

Grape seaweed was a kind of food with high nutrition value and huge economic value serving for exports. Planting grape seaweed have fetched farmers in Khanh Hoa and Binh Thuan provinces high profit for many recent years, however, for the first time, it was grown in Ninh Thuan province.

Cumulative exports in the first half of 2026 totaled nearly US$5.8 billion, representing a 12.8% increase compared with the same period last year. Exports to China and Hong Kong continued to accelerate, while shipments to the United States rebounded strongly in June. In contrast, exports to the EU, Japan, and the Middle East remained sluggish or recorded slight declines.

Ca Mau mud crab expands official export channels to international markets

During the first four months of the year, export turnover to this market exceeded USD 7.3 million, marking a sharp increase compared to the same period over the previous two years. As Egypt’s tuna imports continue to recover and demand for canned tuna remains strong, the market is becoming increasingly attractive for Vietnamese tuna processors and exporters.

Value-added pangasius products expand presence in CPTPP markets

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) During the first four months of 2026, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to CPTPP member countries reached nearly USD 128 million, accounting for 18% of the country’s total pangasius export value and increasing by 21% compared to the same period in 2025. Demand patterns varied significantly across the bloc: Mexico primarily imported fresh and frozen pangasius products, while Japan and Canada recorded substantial shares of processed products. Australia remained focused on frozen fillets but continued to maintain a portion of processed imports.

The company aims to produce 68,800 metric tons of finished shrimp products, generate consolidated revenue of VND 19.9 trillion, and achieve VND 1.059 trillion in pre-tax profit. If achieved, these figures would represent the highest revenue and profit levels in the company’s history.
