Currently, the U.S. is still the most important market of the company with 8,000 MT of import volume, valued US$109.6 million. Japan is the 2nd importer with US$61 million, followed by the EU (US$39.7 million), South Korea (US$37.3 million) and Canada (US$8.9 million).
According to Mr. Diep, this year Minh Phu Seafood Corp failed to reach its profit target of more than VND600 billion set in the company’s General Meeting of Stakeholders because of low production of Minh Phu – Hau Giang shrimp processing plant and shrimp farming area in Vung Tau province. Additionally, it was dealing with spike of all input costs and high bank loan rate.
In 2011, Minh Phu Seafood Corp expected to generate US$330 million of export value, bringing a post-tax profit of VND400 billion. The company is aiming to provide products for the year’s end holidays by boosting farming and assures the operation of its large-scale processing plant in Hau Giang province.
Over the last three years, the company remains the most effective shrimp company in Vietnam. So far, it occupies the leading position among seafood exporters in terms of value.

This result indicates a positive start for the sector, reflecting early signs of demand recovery in multiple markets from the beginning of the year.

In February alone, export value reached USD 8.4 million, up 148% year-on-year. Cumulatively, in the first two months of 2026, total tilapia export turnover hit USD 23 million, soaring 242% compared to the same period in 2025.

Issues such as filth, and signs of decomposition/spoilage are often detected through sensory evaluation methods and remain common reasons for seafood import alerts, detentions, or shipment rejections.
Shrimp has been the most important export product of Vietnam’s seafood industry for many years, typically accounting for 35–45% of the country’s total seafood export value. With a well-developed farming, processing, and export system, Vietnam has become one of the world’s leading shrimp exporters.
