A new Surimi processing plant with monthly capacity of 1,200 tons started its operation lastweek, July 07.

Con Dao Seaproducts And Import-Export Co., (Coimex) said its total exported volume for first half of 2008 increased by 293% over the same period last year. By the end of June 2008, Coimex exported 6,300 tons of surimi, valued USD 15.5 million to EU, Asia, America and Middle East.

Despite recent seafood scarcity and hiking fuel price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Coimex has sucessfully overcome its difficulties by purchasing raw material in other provinces.

The company planned to bring its two surimi plants in Kien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces in order to meet the increasing demand for surimi in foreign countries. However, the inauguration ceremony of the new plants has been delayed due to stagnant construction.

However, the new Surimi processing plants with monthly capacity of 1,200 tons has officially started operation. (ThuyNinh)
