Ho Chi Minh: Fishery output in QI/2017 estimated at 13,084 MT
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Total fishery output of Ho Chi Minh city in the first three months of 2017 was estimated at 13,084 MT, up 4.9% over the same period last year. Of which aquaculture production was estimated at 7,640.3 MT, up 10.7% over the same period (farming area was 3,831.8 ha, increasing 2.2%). Of total aquaculture production, shrimp accounted for 25.8% of aquaculture production, down 8.4% due to unstable weather conditions, unseasonal rain; Finfish production accounted for 27%, up 10.7%; other seafood accounted for 47.1%, up 27.6%.
Capture production was estimated at 5,443.8 tons, down 2.3% over the same period. Of which, finfish output accounted for 51% of the total catch, down 4.6%. In Can Gio District, as of March 10, there were 334 households stocking black tiger shrimp seed with 43 million pieces on an area of 2,946.4 hectares (98.7% of improved extensive farming). With white shrimp, there were 341 households stocking with 99.61 million seeds on the area of 228.17 hectares.
