Quarantining live fish exported to Canada

(vasep.com.vn) On November 22nd 2012, National Agro–Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) sent the facilities of live fish exporting and packaging to Canada the official letter No. 2013/QLCL-CL1 on quarantining live fish exported to the market.

According to Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), as of December 10th 2012, live fish exported to Canada must enclose with quarantine certificate granted by competent authorities of exporting countries (for more details, see on CFIA website).

CFIA regulates that fish farms must apply biological security plans in epidemic control program implemented by competent authorities of exporting countries as regulated by World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

To meet requirements of Canada, NAFIQAD requested exporting facilities for live fish to Canada to provide information on their production chain from raw material suppliers, packaging facilities to export, exported fish species and epidemic control activities under the model sent by CFIA to NAFIQAD’s branches in localities before November 29th 2012.
