(vasep.com.vn) In July 20th 2012, National Agro–Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) has promulgated the official letter No. 1130/QLCL-CL1 and sent it to seafood processors and exporters to EU.
The official letter reported about inspection, safety certification of seafood before entering the EU market.
Accordingly, NAFIQAD instructed enterprises to label production date of frozen fish intended for export to EU pursuant to Regulation (EU) No.16/2012 as follows: Production date of frozen fish is the date when fish were caught (wild-caught fish) or harvest date (farmed fish).
In terms of bivalve mollusk, echinoderms, tunicates and marine gastropods, production date is the date of processing, cutting and mincing them.
To avoid problems in exporting the products to EU, enterprises must keep frozen and production date information of raw fish which are purchased to process and export to EU according to EU’s regulation No.16/2012. In case, fish freezing and production date is written on packing, frozen fish label, production date is the date defined in EU’s regulation No.16/2012.
