Controlling raw fish imported from fishing vessels to process and export to EU

(vasep.com.vn) On September 7th 2012, National Agro–Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) has issued the official letter No. 1448/QLCL-CL1 on controlling raw fish imported from fishing boats to process and export to EU.

NAFIQAD required its regional Agro Forestry Fisheries Quality Assurance Centers to comply with EU’s regulations as follows:

1. Certification requirements for legal fish catching

- Certification requirements for legal fish catching is abided by rules of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Circular No. 28/2011/TT-BNN-PTNT dated April 15th 2011 and NAFIQAD’s official letter No. 698/QLCL-CL1 dated April 27th 2011.

2. Requirements for quality and food safety

- Imported fish consignments must be originated from origins which are recognized by the European Commission or from fishing boats which are tested and certified to ensure food safety by relevant authorities from origins.

- Imported fish consignments must be tested by Department of Animal Health (agencies under directly the Department or those authorized by the Department) at the border gate and then the Department grants the Certificate or Notice for the consignments which ensured food safety and hygiene.
