(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam shrimp exports through November 2015 hit US$2.7 billion, down 25.6% year on year. Estimated figure for the whole year of 2015 was US$3 billion, down 25% year on year. Nevertheless, shrimp still dominated the total exports with 44% of total value for exported seafood.

Shrimp imports into Japan from Vietnam in Jan-Oct 2015, however, reported the year-on-year slump in both volume and value.

In the first half of October 2015, Vietnam shrimp sales to China gained US$20 million, up 18.5% year on year. Through 15th October 2015, Vietnam shrimp exports to the market reached more than US$268 million, down 22.2% year on year.

(vasep.com.vn) In 2015, Germany was the second largest importer of Vietnam shrimp in the EU. In Jan-Sep 2015, Vietnam shrimp sales to Germany reached US$84.4 million, down 16.5% year on year. In QI/2015, in EU bloc, Germany took the lead in importing shrimp from Vietnam with import value of US$28.4 million, up 4.2% year on year. In QII and QIII, Germany was surpassed by the U.K to slip to the second position due to its economic turbulence and EUR’s devaluation, affecting to shrimp importing demand.

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam shrimp exports in Q3/2015 reported a growth compared to the two previous quarters. Shrimp exports reached US$840.8 million in Q3, up from US$ 573.9 million in Q1 and US$ 716.2 million in Q2 but still down compared to the same period in 2014. From July to September, shrimp shipments increased steadily from US$ 263.5 million to nearly US$ 305 million. The cumulative figure in the first 9 months of this year hit US$ 2.1 billion, down 27.4% from the same period of 2014.

(vasep.com.vn) Australia is a large seafood consuming market. Annually, it imports 200,000 MT of seafood, worth more than US$1 billion. Vietnamese seafood products like shrimp, seabass and pangasius are the most favorite food of Australian people.

(vasep.com.vn) The UK has been a potential market as shrimp sales to the market remained high growth rates while other markets declined. Even though shrimp imports into the UK slowed down, shrimp sales from Vietnam to the market saw positive growth. The increase was owing to the UK’s rising demand for small warm-water shrimp.

(vasep.com.vn) August witnesses the best performance of shrimp exports to the US so far this year. Reportedly, shrimp exports to the market experienced the deepest dive in February and posted a gradual growth from April to August.

(vasep.com.vn) Source from Sao Ta Foods Joint Stock Company (Fimex VN) revealed that in August 2015, the company processed 1,404 MT of frozen shrimp, bringing the cumulative volume of product to 7,547 MT, equivalent to 110% of the same period in 2014.
