The central coastal province of Phu Yen will branch out high-tech shrimp cultivation models in a bid to realise its target of 100 million USD in production value by 2025.

The United Kingdom was the largest importer of Vietnam’s prawns in the European Union (EU) in 2016, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

From 2013 to 2016, the import volume of shrimp into South Korea increased continuously and peaked in 2016 with more than 83,000 MT. Demand for seafood, including shrimp in Korea, has been on the rise due to declining domestic fish production and the tendency to focus on healthy diets of its people.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has joined hands with other ministries and sectors to promote the export of agri-aquatic products to Australia.

Breeding shrimp together with other aquatic products is preventing disease without using chemicals and providing sustainable results for farmers in the central coastal province of Phu Yen.

The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has received a document from the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) affirming that Vietnam is able to meet all requirements in Australia’s new import conditions for processed shrimps.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently signed a decision to add three more products - brackish water shrimp, high-quality coffee and ginseng - to the list of national products.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) As of March 2017, Germany held as the third largest importing market of Vietnam shrimp in the EU, accounting for 3% of total shrimp export of Vietnam to markets. In Jan-Mar 2017, Vietnam’s shrimp exports to Germany reached US$18.4 million, down 22.8% over the same period in 2016.
