(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Two products of frozen shrimp and rice exports of Soc Trang province grew strongly in the first 10 months of the year, of which shrimp exports increased by 21%.
Shrimp and rice help Soc Trang province achieve export turnover exceeding 1 billion USD
Vo Van Chieu - director of Soc Trang province's Department of Industry and Trade - said the province's export turnover in the first 10 months of the year was equal to the whole of 2020, reaching over 1 billion USD, up 14% over the same period.
In which, seafood export (mainly shrimp) was USD 835 million, up 21% over the same period and rice export was USD 183 million, up 41% over the same period.
According to Mr. Chieu, currently, about 10 shrimp exporting enterprises of Soc Trang are sprinting to process to keep up with year-end orders, so it is likely that the province's seafood export turnover in 2021 will reach over 1 billion USD.
"In the context of complicated developments of the Covid epidemic, Soc Trang still achieved high growth in export turnover thanks to the outstanding efforts of enterprises. Businesses in Soc Trang have proactively taken measures to prevent and control effective translation to adapt to new circumstances," said Mr. Chieu.
Thanks to the implementation of safe and flexible measures, these local supply chains are not disrupted, creating conditions for businesses to maintain production and increase development opportunities during the epidemic.
