Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu lead in Vietnam shrimp exports

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) By the end of July 2021, Soc Trang province is leading in seafood export with US$570 million, accounting for 11.3% of Vietnam's total turnover. In which, shrimp exports accounted for 94% with 535 million USD, the rest were fish cakes, surimi, squid, octopus and other mollusks.

Soc Trang also leads the country in shrimp exports, accounting for nearly a quarter of the country's shrimp exports, of which 95% of the province's shrimp export value is from vannamei shrimp, and black tiger shrimp only accounts for about 4%. Currently, Soc Trang has about 20 seafood export enterprises, of which the top 5 largest enterprises are specialized in processing and exporting shrimp, accounting for 75% of the province's seafood export turnover.

With 269 million USD of seafood export in the first 7 months of the year, the province including Bac Lieu ranked 7th in seafood sales, but in terms of shrimp exports, Bac Lieu had the 3rd largest turnover. With a value of 255 million USD, shrimp also ranked third. accounting for nearly 95% of seafood exports of the province, of which vannamei shrimp accounts for 76%, black tiger shrimp accounts for 22%. Bac Lieu has about 30 seafood export companies. The leading names are Ngoc Trinh, Ngoc Tri, South Vina Shrimp, Seaprodex Minh Hai, Trang Khanh are all big shrimp enterprises, accounting for over 50% of the province's seafood export turnover.

Up to now, three key provinces for shrimp farming, processing and exporting, including Soc Trang, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu, account for 61% of the country's shrimp exports. The development and results of Vietnam's shrimp exports are and will depend largely on the production and export situation of the three provinces. Recently, the Covid epidemic broke out strongly in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces, including these 3 provinces. However, with the local flexible epidemic prevention and control decisions and solutions, especially Soc Trang, it is expected that production and export of Soc Trang and these two provinces will soon recover in the last months of the year and will is the driving force to restore the country's seafood exports in the coming time.
