(vasep.com.vn) Thong Thuan Co., Ltd (Thong Thuan Group) harvested the first whiteleg shrimp crop after 3 month-breeding in Phu My commune, Giang Thanh district, Kien Giang province with the productivity of nearly 17 MT per hectare.
The company was approved by the Binh Thuan province authority to develop fish farming area of 1,200 hectares in Giang Thanh district (including 1,000 hectares for industrial shrimp farming and 200 hectares for tilapia farming) as well as build fish processing facilities in Thanh Loc industrial zone (Chau Thanh district). The company built 142 ponds of whiteleg shrimp farming (0.4 hectares per pond) with the area of nearly 90 hectares and total investment of VND60 billion and stocking in 100 ponds.
The first pond offered the production of 8 MT shrimp count 70 - 80 pieces per kilogram. It is estimated that the output of the first harvesting crop attains 700 MT with the production of 16 – 17 MT per hectare.Commercial shrimp of the company are farmed and fed on microbial processes of modern technology without antibiotic using.
Accordingly, the company’s high-quality commercial shrimp can meet strict standards and technical barriers of food safety and hygiene in the global markets, particularly Japanese market. The company imported the disease-resistant broodstock from the U.S., hatched shrimp seed which are free with disease to stock.
Natural conditions of environment, water, land in the province are suitable to whiteleg shrimp farming. Whiteleg shrimp can be farmed from 2 to 3 crops per year under modern technology, Mr. Truong Huu Thong, General director of the company said.
