Vietnam to boost bivalve mollusk farming on sea
(vasep.com.vn) Due to dwindling fish resources, Vietnam is considering to raise more fish in cages at sea.
Bivalve mollusks should be focused on because they do not cause pollution to marine environment, said Mr. Nguyen Hue Dung-Vice Chairman of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). The government offers more investments and incentive measures to develop marine aquaculture.
Vietnam is sending its bivalve mollusk to 42 global markets. Through May 2014, the item brought back more than US$31.2 million for Vietnam, according to VASEP.
