Vietnam - the 3rd leading cephalopod supplier to Australia

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) This year, Australia increased imports of processed cephalopod (HS code 16), while reduced those of fresh/chilled/frozen items.

Currently, Australia imported cephalopod from 19 countries around the world. Of that, most of the suppliers were from Asian countries, accounting for 98% of the country's total import volume.

Vietnam stayed as the third largest supplier of cephalopod to this market in volume, behind China and Malaysia.

This year, the depreciation in the Australian dollar and a rise in the average import price of cephalopod into Australia led to the reduction in its imports. In the first three months of this year, the average import price of cephalopod into Australia was US$5.68 per kilogram, up from US$5.48 per kilogram in the same period last year.
