The Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition hosts first meeting to pitch "safest seafood in the world"

The Gulf Seafood Marketing Coalition

The Collation represents fishermen, charter boat captains, seafood processors and wholesalers, retailers, chefs, restaurants and tourism marketers from the Gulf States. The Coalition aims to provide a cohesive vision and develop strategies that expand the market share for wild seafood products from the Gulf of Mexico.

“There was excitement as all of the Coalition members discussed plans for the future of the Gulf of Mexico and pledged, on behalf of their states, to work together to promote Gulf seafood,” said Mr. Voisin. “Consumers will know that the Gulf of Mexico has beautiful, clean beaches and delicious seafood to enjoy- whether fishing from a charter boat or enjoying it at home or at a restaurant.”

Seafood harvested from the Gulf of Mexico is the safest seafood in the world. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration have continually proven Gulf seafood is passing tests with flying colors. For each of the 12 hydrocarbons of concern picked up in the chemical test, the seafood is routinely testing 100 to 1000 times lower than FDA's pass-fail level of concern threshold.
