Currently, Thailand and Malaysia are the two major importers of Vietnam cephalopod in the region. In particular, shipments to Thailand picked up the proportion of 77% of Vietnam’s total cephalopod exports to ASEAN and exports to the market are on the upward trend. In the first 7 months of this year, Vietnam’s cephalopod sales to Thailand amounted to US$29 million, up 34% from a year before.

In addition, according to ITC statistics, Thailand was also the biggest buyer of cephalopod in ASEAN. In the first half of this year, cephalopod imports into the country accounted for 45% of total imports into ASEAN, with the value of US$37 million, but down over 74% over the same period last year.
