Seafood cultivable area in the open sea spreads over 400,000 ha of bays and lagoons, including more than 200,000 ha in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, 41,000-ha coastal area stretching from Thua Thien-Hue to Ba Ria-Vung Tau, 62,000 ha in Eastern and Western of the South, 20,000 ha in Van Phong bay, Khanh Hoa province, etc. Key farmed species include lobster, cobia, amberjack, snapper, red croaker, crab, swimming crab, sea cucumber, abalone, oyster, clam, seaweed, red jellyfish, coral, etc.
