Seaprodex F16 up 20 percent in shrimp sales abroad

News 08:52 15/10/2012 Ngọc Hà
(vasep.com.vn) In the first eight months of 2012, Quy Nhon Frozen Seafoods Joint Stock Company (Seaprodex F16) shipped more shrimp products to new foreign markets, boosting its overall export volume and value by 20 percent to 800 MT and US$5 million compared to the same time of last year.

In the period, Seaprodex F16’s shrimp trade with the EU markets remained stable, though the region has still been under pressures of economic downturn. In contrast, sales to other traditional market like South Korea, the Philippines, and New Zealand showed slide of 5 percent from the compatible time of last year. The drop is due to declining demand for shrimp in consuming markets, as well as cheaper prices of shrimp supplies from Thailand, India, Indonesia, according to Banh Quang Ha, the company’s Director.

In 2011, Binh Dinh-based firm started running a shrimp processing workshop with production capacity of 4 MT per day in order to mostly provide to domestic markets. The new plant helped to increase Seaprodex F16’s whole production to 15 MT per day.

The month saw divergent trends across key markets: the US maintained its leading position, Japan and Canada improved, Russia surged and the EU continued to experience a steep downturn. Vietnam’s shrimp exports in the first eight months of 2026: positive growth continues as competition shifts toward efficiency and value

 |  10:35 19/09/2026

(vasep.com.vn) Vietnam’s shrimp exports reached US$3.3 billion in the first eight months of 2026, up 12% year on year. The latest insights from the Global Shrimp Forum 2026 (GSF 2026), held in early September, also indicate that the final months of the year will remain highly competitive as global supply continues to expand and buyers increasingly focus on quality, product specifications, supply stability and the ability to meet market-specific demand.

August 2026 seafood exports: Growth slows, momentum continues to pivot to Asia

 |  15:28 17/09/2026

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In August 2026, Vietnam’s seafood exports reached $1.14 billion, up 6% year on year. Cumulative eight-month exports rose 11.8% to $8.00 billion, though momentum has cooled compared to the 12.8% growth seen through July. China - Hong Kong and ASEAN are offsetting weakness in the U.S, EU and partly Japan. This divergence will likely widen in Q4 as trade tariffs and traceability requirements directly weigh on new orders.
