Under South Korea’s regulation, to be allowed to export by-products of fish, competent authorities of exporting countries must send application files and list of exporters to South Korean Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MIFFAF). If application files are acceptable, MIFFAF will appoint a group of inspectors to visit facilities producing fish by-products to inspect food safety and hygiene standards and their quality control system to make sure quality of fish by-products exported to South Korea.
NAFIQAD asked exporting and processing facilities of frozen fish heads and fish viscera that have not been registered for exporting to South Korea to urgently prepare application files and send to NAFIQAD or Agro–Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance branches in the central and southern region prior to July 10th 2012.
