Compared to the same month of 2010, shrimp export of the company increased by 70 percent in volume and 106.23 percent in value.
In 2010, Minh Phu Seafood Corp exported nearly 23,200 MT of shrimp, worth over US$247.6 million, up 44 percent in volume and 56 percent in value compared to 2009 and surpassing 37 percent of the year plan.
At the same time, the revenue of company reached VND6.645 billion, up twice from 2009. However, its net interest decreased by 10 percent to VND194 billion due to tax payment of VND29.7 billion.
Mr. Diep said that currently the company’s processing plant with a capacity of 40 MT of finished shrimp per year in Hau Giang is urgent to complete with total investment fund of VND1,000 billion. In 2011, Minh Phu Seafood Corp plans to increase three times its farming area from last year to meet raw material for the plant. The plant is planned go into operation in late April 2011.
According to Vietnam Customs in 2010, Minh Phu Seafood Corp was a leading exporter in the top Vietnamese seafood exporters.

The result shows that the sector is experiencing a fairly positive recovery, especially in its two key product groups: crabs and swimming crabs. However, behind the growth figures are several concerns: export markets remain highly concentrated, raw material supply is unstable, and trade barriers from the US and EU are becoming increasingly stringent.

In Hung My commune alone, there are about 260 super-intensive shrimp farming households covering more than 265 hectares, playing a key role in local economic development.

Although total export value declined slightly due to decreases in some key markets, many other destinations continued to post strong growth, opening up room for this convenience-oriented processed segment in the coming quarters.
