Minh Phu Corp reported it had established Minh Phu Eco Shrimp Farming Co., Ltd in Ca Mau province.
The new company is responsible for managing and developing the corp’s shrimp farming area in Ca Mau province.
In the short term, Minh Phu Eco Shrimp Farming Co., Ltd is maintaining safe shrimp farming model in an area of 318ha in Tam Giang Dong commune, Nam Can district, Ca Mau province. By application of environmentally friendly and sustainable aquaculture practice the company assures ecological balance, meanwhile, creates a stable supply of raw shrimp that meet international standards on quality and hygiene, neither infected by antibiotics nor chemical.
Minh Phu Eco Shrimp Farming Co.,Ltd will help the Corp to hold initiative in input material source for its export production.
So far, Minh Phu Corp has been Viet Nam’s largest shrimp exporter. In the first five months this year the Corp earned US$63.35 million from exporting 5,895MT of seafood in the first five months this year.
Its shrimp exports increased by 46.04 percent in volume and by 44.31 percent in value year on year.

The result shows that the sector is experiencing a fairly positive recovery, especially in its two key product groups: crabs and swimming crabs. However, behind the growth figures are several concerns: export markets remain highly concentrated, raw material supply is unstable, and trade barriers from the US and EU are becoming increasingly stringent.

In Hung My commune alone, there are about 260 super-intensive shrimp farming households covering more than 265 hectares, playing a key role in local economic development.

Although total export value declined slightly due to decreases in some key markets, many other destinations continued to post strong growth, opening up room for this convenience-oriented processed segment in the coming quarters.
