Exports of marine products to Korea increased slightly

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) By the end of April 2021, Korea is the 5th largest seafood import market of Vietnam, with seafood import turnover from Vietnam reaching more than 227 million USD. In which, the export of marine products to this market accounted for 56%, reaching nearly 127 million USD, up 9% over the same period in 2020. In general, exports of commodity groups to Korea increased over the same period last 2020 (except for crabs and other crustaceans).

In the structure of exported marine products, cephalopod products account for nearly 55% of the total value, reaching more than $69 million, up 9% over the same period, followed by other fish (except for other fish species). tuna and tra fish), accounting for nearly 42%, reaching nearly 53 million USD, up 5% over the same period. Notably, Vietnam's tuna exports to South Korea increased "gallopingly" over the same period, up 228%.

South Korea is Vietnam's largest import market of cephalopods, accounting for 42% of total export value in the first four months of 2021, reaching $69 million, up 9% over the same period in 2020. Korea increased 29% imported octopus, down 34% imported squid from Vietnam. The preferential tax rate of 0% is an advantage for enterprises to increase exports of fresh and frozen octopus to this market, increase market share in this market and maintain the position of the largest octopus supply for Korea.

Top 10 enterprises exporting cephalopods from Vietnam to Korea accounted for more than 52% of the total export value of the group of products. In which, Hop Tan Seafood, Mai Linh Co., Ltd and Kien Cuong Seafood are the three largest export companies, accounting for 25% of the total value of cephalopod exports to Korea.

Cumulatively for the first two months of the year, shrimp export value totaled USD 690 million, an increase of 20% compared with the same period last year. Compared with the 22% growth recorded in January, the pace of increase in February slowed somewhat, reflecting seasonal factors as the Lunar New Year holiday partially disrupted processing and shipment activities.
