Denmark is a highly industrialized country with a modern economy, with a high standard of living and government services. Although the population is only about 5.8 million people, Denmark's GDP reaches 2496.6 billion DKK (equivalent to 354.2 billion USD) and per capita income reaches about 65,669 USD .
Denmark's business environment is considered friendly, ranked by the World Bank as the country with the best business environment in Europe for 10 consecutive years. Denmark also ranks in the top 5 countries with a good business environment.
Denmark is not only the only country in Northern Europe to establish a comprehensive partnership with Vietnam, but also one of Vietnam's potential trade partners in the European region because of its strategic location( this is the gateway area connecting the North with the rest of Europe). Besides, for many years, Denmark has implemented trade liberalization and market opening policies to create favorable conditions for enterprises to export to this market.
Denmark will be a potential market for Vietnam seafood, especially tuna and pangasius
Denmark is one of the leading seafood trading partners of Vietnam within the bloc. When the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVFTA) came into effect, it boosted the seafood trade of Denmark and Vietnam, including tuna.
According to statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's tuna export turnover to this market has increased from 407 thousand USD in 2019 to nearly 2 million USD in 2021. In the first 8 months of 2022 alone, the tuna export value to this market reached nearly 4 million USD, up 375% over the same period in 2021.
Vietnam from the 5th largest tuna supplier outside the block to the Danish market in 2021 has surpassed Thailand, Mauritius becomes the largest tuna supplier in the first 5 months of 2022.
Currently, there are only 5 enterprises participating in exporting tuna to this market, including: Halong Canfoco DaNang Co., Ltd, Bidifisco, Tuna Vietnam, FoodTech, T&H Nha Trang Co. Ltd.

Vietnam’s pangasius export to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached more than 7 million USD in the first quarter of this year, a rise of 67% against the same period last year. UAE mainly imported frozen fillets from Vietnam.
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to data from General Department of Vietnam Customs, the UK imported nearly $3 million worth of pangasius from Vietnam in the first half of March 2024. Cumulative pangasius exports to this market reached $12 million as of March 15, 2024, down 3% from the same period last year.
Total export revenue from agro-forestry-fisheries products in the first three months of this year is estimated at 13.53 billion USD, up 21.8% over the same period last year; and this results in a trade surplus of 3.36 billion USD, a rise of 96.5%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The southernmost locality is developing shrimp farming models that generate large outputs but are environment-friendly.
