According to the latest Informe Sectorial de Pesca y Acuicultura by the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), the fishing sector contributed with 1.7 million tonnes between January and November 2013.
Pelagic resources made up for the 79.9 per cent of landings in the fishing sector.
Downloads of anchovy, jack mackerel and common sardine respectively accounted for 56.5 per cent, 16.7 per cent and 16.1 per cent of the landings in the catch sector, accumulated until November 2013.
These landings were concentrated in regions XV and II, which together received 52.6 per cent of the total. Following, zones V and IV, with 39.5 per cent; further back were located regions III to IV, with 7.8 per cent of the total.
As regards catches of demersal fisheries, to November 2013 the fishing sector had landed 17,310 tonnes of southern hake, 7.9 per cent less than in the same period in 2012 (18,800 tonnes) .
The main contribution came from the industrial fleet, with 12,800 tonnes, while artisanal vessels landed 4,400 tonnes.
Subpesca reported that the landing of common hake accumulated to November last year totalled 33,770 tonnes, representing a decrease of 7 per cent compared to the same period in 2012 (36,330 tonnes) .
The landing of Chilean sea bass (Patagonian toothfish) was 3,185 tonnes in November 2013, 7.1 per cent less than in the first 11 months of 2012 (3,430 tonnes).
As for golden kingklip, 1,789 tonnes of were landed between January and November 2013, compared to 1,930 tonnes in the same period last year, that is to say, 7.3 per cent less.
Meanwhile, the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) reported that aquaculture harvests totalled 941,730 tonnes in the first 11 months of last year.
This figure represents a decrease of 4.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2012, when 984,500 tonnes were harvested.
The main products nationally produced were Atlantic salmon, mussels and rainbow trout, which accounted for 46.8 per cent, 25.3 per cent and 13.9 per cent of the total harvest respectively.
Regions X and XI generated most of the harvest: a total of 552,000 tonnes and 358,000 tonnes respectively.
Atlantic salmon harvests totalled 440,850 tonnes, 20.6 per cent more than the accumulated volume between January and November 2012 (365,530 tonnes).
Most production was from Regions XI (263,000 tonnes), X (155,800 tonnes) and XII (21,800 tonnes).
The harvests of mussels accumulated through November 2013 totalled 238,000 tonnes, up 1.7 per cent on the same period in 2012 (233,990 tonnes). The 100 per cent of harvests came from Region X.
Meanwhile, rainbow trout harvests totalled 131,220 tonnes, 45.7 per cent less than the cumulative volume between January and November 2012 (241,520 tonnes).
Most production was from Regions X (73,000 tonnes) and XI (55,000 tonnes).

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam’s pangasius export value to China (including Mainland China and Hong Kong) reached $483 million, up 1% compared to the same period in 2024. October alone posted $73 million, a strong 19% increase year-on-year. The Chinese market currently accounts for nearly 27% of Vietnam’s total pangasius export value.
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to data from Vietnam Customs, the country’s lobster exports posted another strong month in October 2025, reaching $93 million - a 75% increase from the same month in 2024. This performance extends the sector’s impressive growth streak from earlier in the year, pushing cumulative exports for the first 10 months to $712 million, up an extraordinary 135% year-over-year. Within the product mix, green lobster remained the dominant driver, accounting for 98% of total export value, with $700 million recorded in the first 10 months - a 141% jump year-on-year. In contrast, exports of spiny lobster and other lobster varieties declined slightly by 22% and 1%, respectively, indicating that market demand is becoming increasingly concentrated on the most sought-after product line.
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Currently, Da Nang City has no fishing vessels detained, sanctioned by foreign authorities, or criminally prosecuted for IUU fishing violations. Patrols, monitoring of marine fishing activities, and handling of violations have been prioritized by competent forces, significantly reducing nearshore fishing infringements.
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s tuna exports to Israel in the first nine months of 2025 reached just over USD 27 million, down as much as 49% compared to the same period in 2024. This is a steep and prolonged decline for many consecutive months, reflecting changes in import demand as well as shifts in the supply structure of this market.
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) The first 700 tons of Vietnamese tilapia ordered and imported by JBS Group will initially be distributed through supermarket chains, the Horeca network and JBS’s product showrooms in Brazil.
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In October 2025, Vietnam’s pangasius exports hit $217 million, representing an 8% increase compared to the same month in 2024. For the first 10 months of the year, total export value has surpassed $1.8 billion, up 9% year-on-year. This growth demonstrates clear positive momentum for the pangasius industry, despite continued declines in certain markets.
In recent days, the Central provinces of Vietnam have been suffering from historic flooding, with prolonged heavy rains, landslides, flash floods, and deep inundation causing extremely serious impacts on tens of thousands of households, as well as many VASEP member exporters located in the region.
