Ca Mau Sub-department of Aquaculture has proposed measures about aquaculture farming area project, intensive shrimp farming area, the rice – shrimp farming model, organic shrimp farming, environment-friendly shrimp farming project
The provincial leaders attaches special importance to infrastructure development for shrimp farming, in particular to electricity and irrigation system serving industrial shrimp farming area, enhances policies about human resources training serving farmed shrimp management and care, establishes many shrimp farming models to serve as a model and expand effective shrimp farming model.
Ca Mau strives to develop clean shrimp farming process, encourage shrimp farmers to use finished products and reduce the amount of drug and chemicals for shrimp farming, push them to apply biological technology in seed production to boost farmed shrimp output, plan and apply farming schedule thoroughly to prevent risks and loss caused by instable weather conditions.
The directions of Ca Mau People’s Committee about industrial shrimp farming solutions focus on training, instructions, transfer of shrimp farming technology, seed production in direction of improving farmed shrimp’s output and quality.
Ca Mau enhances the management of seed quality, tightens control over foreign matters injection into shrimp, and prevents producers from using banned substances in feeding and preserving raw shrimp to meet clean shrimp demand of consumers and export markets.
Aquaculture area of the province is estimated at 296,300 ha. In particular, the area of shrimp farming is over 266,000 ha in which the area of industrial shrimp farming accounts for over 2,100 ha.
Hopefully, unified measures of increasing farmed shrimp production and productivity will bring effectiveness and give better conditions for shrimp farmers to increase their income so that farmed shrimp production may reach 115,500 MT as targeted in 2011.

In 2025, scallop export value reached nearly USD 66 million, up 49% from USD 44 million in 2024. This result indicates a positive start for the sector, reflecting early signs of demand recovery in multiple markets from the beginning of the year.

In February alone, export value reached USD 8.4 million, up 148% year-on-year. Cumulatively, in the first two months of 2026, total tilapia export turnover hit USD 23 million, soaring 242% compared to the same period in 2025.

Issues such as filth, and signs of decomposition/spoilage are often detected through sensory evaluation methods and remain common reasons for seafood import alerts, detentions, or shipment rejections.
Shrimp has been the most important export product of Vietnam’s seafood industry for many years, typically accounting for 35–45% of the country’s total seafood export value. With a well-developed farming, processing, and export system, Vietnam has become one of the world’s leading shrimp exporters.
