(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Fisheries output of Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam) in April 2017 hit 4,421.9 MT, down 3.2% over the same period in 2016.
Of which, aquaculture output was 2,543.2 MT, a decrease of 8.6% and capture output was 1,878.7 MT, up 5.2% from the same period last year. In Jan-Apr 2017, fisheries output totaled 17,206.4 MT, up 2.8% over the same period last year, in which, aquaculture output reached 10,183.9 MT, up 5.2%. In particular, shrimp production touched 3,081.9 MT, down 7.8% year on year (whiteleg shrimp output reached 2,455.8 MT, down 13.5%); production of other marine fish hit 4,656.5 MT, accounting for 45.7%, up 15% over the same period last year. Besides, capture output reached 7,022.5 MT, down 0.5% year on year, mainly due to a 2.5 percent drop in fish production (accounting for 55.3%).
As of 10th April, in Can Gio district, there were 349 households stocking black tiger shrimp with 55.1 million seeds on an area of 2,960.4 hectares (mainly improved-extensive farming). There were 557 households stocking whiteleg shrimp with 155.36 million seeds on the area of 378.64 hectares.
