According to the Department of Fisheries of Can Tho City, the city's aquaculture area in the past 9 months was over 7,900 hectares, an increase over the same period last year. The harvested area was over 3,100 hectares with over 162,000 tons of output, equal to 98% over the same period in 2023. Currently, the selling price of raw pangasius ranges from 26,500 - 27,500 VND/kg, an increase of 500 - 1,000 VND/kg, the average price is 26,000 - 27,000 VND/kg.
For the aquaculture areas which have VietGAP and BAP + ASC standards (A set of assess output ment standards applied to the aquaculture industry to help manage responsible and effective aquaculture) in Can Tho is 193 hectares.
Currently, the city has 77 facilities for producing and raising aquatic breeds of all kinds, including 15 facilities for producing shrimp breeds and 62 facilities for producing and raising fish breeds.
For pangasius breeds, the area is more than 260 hectares, with an output of over 2,000 tons. The price of pangasius fry ranges from 29,000 - 33,000 VND/kg, an increase of about 1,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year.
