Export value in the first six months of 2026 reached USD 148 million, down 2% year on year. However, the newly imposed 12.5% additional U.S. tariff on Vietnamese goods, intensifying competition in Northeast Asia, and increasingly stringent traceability requirements in the EU are making the outlook for the second half of the year more uncertain.

Fish cake and surimi exports decreased 11% in April compared to the same month the previous year, according to data from Vietnam Customs. Exports of this product totaled approximately $83 million in the first four months of this year, which is 12% less than the same time previous year.

The export value of fish cakes and surimi this month reached nearly 23 million USD, up 8%. However, this increase is not enough to offset the decrease in January, so in the first 2 months of 2023, Vietnam's export turnover of fish cakes and surimi still decreased by 21% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching more than 42 million dollars.
