There remains large room for Vietnam’s shrimp industry to strive for greater export growth in the next few years, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

In which, the main product is pangasius fillet, up 11%, reaching VND 489 billion and accounting for more than half of total monthly revenue. The biggest increase was miscellanous with 234%, from 21 billion to 71 billion. A galloping increase was recorded with other products (Value-added products) with 112% to 16 billion dong. The remaining two products also increased by 28% and 19% respectively over the same period in 2021.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to statistics of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's tuna exports to the EU in 2021 were nearly equivalent to 2020, reaching US$144 million, up 6 %. However, tuna exports to countries in the bloc have changed and most notably to the French market.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU market in 2021 recorded a figure of over 1 billion USD, up 12%. Exports to most EU member countries increased. In which, the top 5 markets include the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy and France, accounting for 72%. Exports of all major products to the EU grew positively, except pangasius. In which, clam exports grew the most, up 42% and became the 4th largest seafood species in terms of export value to the EU.

However, the whole year pangasius export value still reached 1.61 billion USD, up 8.4% over the previous year. "The difficulty, the wisdom", when exporting pangasius to a number of large markets was congested due to disease inspection and social distancing, businesses have smartly turned to a number of potential markets.

(vasep.com.vn) In November 2021, Vietnam's pangasius exports to China - Hong Kong market doubled from the previous month and increased by 17.4% over the same period in 2020. Thus, after three unstable quarters, in the last quarter of the year, exports to this market showed signs of positive growth.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to data of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's exports of squid and octopus as of November 2021 reached over US$543 million, up 7% over the same period in 2020. Export of squid and octopus in December 2021 was estimated at over 60 million USD, up 10%. Accordingly, for the whole year of 2021, exports have witnessed over 600 million USD, up 7% compared to 2020.

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In November 2021, Vietnam's tuna exports continued to grow strongly by 51% over the same period in 2020, reaching more than 78 million USD. It is estimated that tuna exports in December will also grow at the same rate, and is estimated at about 85 million USD, bringing the total value of tuna exports in 2021 to about 757 million USD.
