Ngoc Tri Seafood: Shrimp exports up 15% in Jan-Feb 2016
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) Source from Ngoc Tri Seafood revealed that in the first 2 months of 2016, the company exported 1,000 MT of finished shrimp, worth by US$8 million; up 15% both in volume and value year on year.
In Jan-Feb 2016, shrimp demand from the US and Japan rose owing to the decrease in their inventory. The retail shrimp promotions in the US are set to nudge up on the back of falling wholesale prices.
Japanese importers tend to import more shrimp from Vietnam. This is the second largest market of Vietnam shrimp. In 2015, the market reduced purchasing Vietnamese shrimp due to economic downturn, yen devaluation and high global shrimp price.
